At Kid Explorer Club, we're pioneering a new era of summer camp experiences, where exploration knows no bounds. As our Expedition Commander, you'll helm the ship at our Chicago site, leading campers and staff on an odyssey of discovery, innovation, and boundless fun. 


Mission Overview: 

  • Age Group: 3-12 years old 
  • Activities: Art, sports, music, STEM, aquatics, field trips, special events, and more 
  • Crew: Junior Counselors, Counselors, Program Leaders, Specialists, Coordinators, Swim Instructors, Extended Day Staff, Assistant Site Director 
  • Command Hub: Kid Explorer Club Headquarters 


Expedition Schedule: 

  • In-season: Late June through August, Monday – Friday, 7:15 AM – 4:00 PM 
  • Preparation Phase: May and early June, select evenings and weekends for training and site preparation 


Command Responsibilities: 

Leadership and Vision 

  • Steer the course with unwavering dedication, integrity, and visionary leadership, inspiring excellence in every member of our crew 
  • Serve as the primary liaison between our outpost and headquarters, embodying the adventurous spirit of Kid Explorer Club in all interactions 
  • Mentor and guide our crew to provide exceptional care and guidance to our young explorers, fostering an environment of growth and discovery 


Operational Mastery 

  • Navigate the complexities of camp logistics with precision and finesse, ensuring smooth sailing from dawn till dusk 
  • Oversee the intricacies of daily operations, from setting sail to weighing anchor, to ensure a seamless and efficient expedition 
  • Delegate tasks and assignments with strategic foresight, empowering our crew to conquer challenges and achieve greatness 


Strategic Ingenuity and Innovation 

  • Chart a course for success, navigating the seas of opportunity with strategic insight and innovative thinking 
  • Anticipate and navigate obstacles with agility and resourcefulness, forging new paths to discovery and adventure 
  • Embrace the spirit of exploration and discovery, seizing every opportunity to push the boundaries of what's possible 


Communication and Representation 

  • Communicate with clarity, conviction, and purpose, ensuring that our message resonates with explorers, families, and partners alike 
  • Represent Kid Explorer Club with passion and enthusiasm, embodying our values of curiosity, courage, and camaraderie 
  • Lead by example in upholding our standards and values, creating a safe and inclusive environment where every explorer can thrive 


Requirements: 

  • Graduate of an accredited institution 
  • Experience in education, sports management, or social work fields preferred 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience working with children 
  • Certification in First Aid & CPR (or ability to obtain prior to May 30, 2024) 
  • Ability to navigate uncharted waters and explore new horizons with confidence and determination
